Sizzling Bulalo Steak and Seafood Paella (Food Review) at Food Trip Plaza

Sixth Dish: Sizzling Bulalo Steak In a city that has been known generally as Tuna Capital of the Philippines, now becomes a food hub of any cuisines for a large number of proliferated restaurants and food stalls. Presenting the newly opened Food Trip Plaza in General Santos City, last opened on April 19, 2018 which contains 40 different food stalls to choose from. Luckily we arrived this day to try some of their few dishes one at a time, stall after stall, and today my senses brought me to this stall named  THE FOOD SHACK (Sizzling-Grill) which offers a modern Filipino twists from classic, savory and hearty Pinoy Foods. My cousin (Rosielyn) and I ordered different foods from different food stalls. She ordered a Seafood Paella (Php 120) from DADDY J'S SMOKEHOUSE whilst waiting for her meal; I roamed around to indulge my hungry senses, not my tummy, but of knowledge to new food favours. With that having said, I find myself in front of The Food Shack and orde...

Native Chicken Inasal and Banana Split (Food Review)

Fifth Dish: Native Chicken Inasal I tried eating at TANOK'Z Chicken Hauz at SM Gensan (located at ground floor), because they are serving "only" a free range chicken or NATIVE CHICKEN which they were known for. This is my first time eating here and this is my experience. MY VERDICT about their food: Tanok'z Chicken Inasal (Pecho Part without drinks  Php 105 ) Size: Just half a size compared to Mang Inasal's Pecho Part. Flavor: The natural umami of the chicken that was left is only about 20-30%, slightly smoky flavor of 15-25%, saltiness of around 30% at most (well seasoned). Texture and doneness: Dry and overdone, chicken has lost almost 99% of moisture (basically dried out already). Which results to a mellow chickeny flavor. It is like almost eating a flavored paper. 😅 But their "free" SOUP does the magic creating a synergistic effect and balance using a light creamy corn soup and a mellow chickeny flavour (chicken inasal) mend t...

Chicken Goreng (Food Review)

Fourth Dish: Chicken Goreng If you're in search of Authentic Indonesian Food here in Gensan. Then may I just suggest that you should try this DAPUR INDO stall in High Cube Food District, the owner is an Indonesian national and this is his versions of some of Indonesian's popular dishes. They offer a bunch of ligit Indonesian foods. Let's try out one of their dishes and understand why it was once recognised as Best Seller. Previously, I mentioned Chicken Goreng in my Nachos' blog post, this were also part of my first night at High Cube and ordered the   Pork Char Siu , then received a free complimentary Pork Dan Dan Noodles  from the Chef, Nachos , and this, my last order the CHICKEN GORENG to complete my list of foods that night. JUDGEMENT TIME!  😈🤔 »The chicken was amazingly big, perfect to make you  filled  and  satisfied . » The chicken bathed in their turmeric base sauce  were distinctively gingery but having ver...

Dill Weed and its Health Benefits

Dill Weed (or simply called as Dill) For those that asked or wonder what is this herb found in most gardens in Filipino households. This was confirmed by a friend of mine, Ragie Banggay who's profession lies in Agriculture, he and his wife cultivates both local and foreign vegetables, berries, chillies and an array of edible and medicinal herbs for cooking and for home natural remedies. They are also making and fertilizing soil of their own for best and organic gardening methodology results. For more info about their organic plants and herbs, they can be visited at SM Gensan - Parking Area or inquire them at his facebook account. This type of herb plant belonged to the family of DILLS. This is Dill Weed , and... yes, it is edible. It has a strong pungent aroma, which for me, resembling the scent of Parsley and Lanzones. Catchy right? L anzones it is!!! It has seemingly vibrant with subtle hint of its fragrance if you kept crumbling the dill weed's leav...

NACHOS from Guapita (Food Review)

Third Dish: Nachos  at GUAPITA in HIGH CUBE FOOD DISTRICT Located at South Osmeña St. General Santos City (in front of DTI). Here I am again at High Cube food district trying out some snacks, and oh by the way my cousin (Vanessa) ordered this Nachos. Not me. I ordered Chicken Goreng for myself. Albeit not a fan of Nachos but we will give it a review still. When my cousin ordered Nachos at GUAPITA (which offers Mexican Foods) a few minutes after it was then delivered, not hot nor cold, because it's a snack. All of it's ingredients were prepared already its just there to assemble the whole plate to be serve. But hey, wait! Something is missing the " cheese " which appears in the previous post of High Cube's FB Home Page on February 5. Hmmmmm... if something is missing in the plate they should have told my cousin they ran out of cheese or "maybe" dissolved the idea of adding cheese in. 🤔😡😠😑 The Nachos located at 1 o'cl...

PORK DAN DAN NOODLES - Spicy Sichuan Noodles (Food Review)

Second Dish: Pork Dan Dan Noodles (Spicy Sichuan Noodles) at Go-Ku stall in HIGH CUBE FOOD DISTRICT Located at South Osmeña St. General Santos City (in front of DTI). As part of my dining experience at Go-Ku. The friendly Chef Raymond gave me a second meal for FREE. As I was craving to my excitement what that real Sichuan Noodles would taste like. But apparently when I interviewed him, he said "it doesn't contain real Sichuan Peppers because it's expensive and may be needing someone from China, a contact person to order that spice by bulk". And here it is! My first Spicy Sichuan Noodles come to my senses at long last. 😋😉 All photos in this blog post were taken on February 18, 2018 JUDGEMENT TIME! 😈😁 After all the preps and cooking the friendly Chef Raymond was up to. It was then delivered to me freshly cooked! Which makes me happy! At first glance the noodle dish may seem boring and lacking impact. But we will soon understand w...

PORK CHAR SIU - Honey Glazed (Food Review)

First Dish:           PORK  CHAR SIU (HONEY GLAZED) at Go-Ku stall in HIGH CUBE FOOD DISTRICT Located at South Osmeña St. General Santos City (in front of DTI). This Food District had already made name few months ago, welcoming both locals and tourists alike to have a taste of this gourmet one stop - food stop for them to enjoy. They opened just last year December 8, 2017 . They cater a lot of food varieties and cuisines to choose from and to name a few, there are: Filipino Cuisine, such as, ADOBO HUT stall   which I liked the authenticity of their Filipino dishes that concentrates about "adobo". Second is  CAVEMAN stall (I can tell it's an American Cuisine based on their flavor profile and choices in their menu) in which I found really appetizing, because of their slow cooked barbecued pork and beef ribs that was partnered with lightly thickened sauce that goes perfectly with their prized cuts of meats, and...

Rice Shortage And The Possible Substitutes

In every Filipino households, there should always been a rice that never ceases to be missing in their pantry. It's always been an essential staple food for us Filipinos as a source of carbohydrates in everyday living. Currently, the over-so-demanding well-milled rice has been inarguably the source of our regular bodily energy thus having this "Rice Shortage" as of until now and as the demand increases but having only few supply for every consuming Filipinos, that relies on NFA rice, both regular-milled and well-milled rice, which makes it drastically getting expensive as days goes on. According to the news from Bohol Chronicle : "With the absence of subsidized NFA rice in the market, prices of both well-milled and regular-milled rice have continued to increase for the 10th week since January". If this supply from the National Food Authority's rice subsidy in the market will not retain it's original flow; an absolute famine will take pla...
