Eighth Dish:
Native Chicken BBQ
Hey guys! I was amazed about this new food hub in Gensan called FOOD TRIP PLAZA. Being here makes me drool, but not just that, I felt truly intimidated because of its wide array of stunning and gorgeous dishes; I just can't simply make a decision from what or which is to order for the past 30-45mins. I just roamed around and asked few stalls regarding their dishes.
First off, I asked the TALABA STATION which offers a good varieties of seafoods and shellfishes, but sad to say, as I was craving for their fresh oysters they actually ran out of supply that their next fresh delivery from Iloilo were scheduled 6-7pm during that time I went there, beacause I arrived passed 4pm already and in my hunger I took a stroll and observe some stalls and if I find their dishes welcoming nor appetizing.
While having this commotion in me, nonetheless of the choices that were made flat on their table counters; I felt like in restraint to eat or make a choice. Hence I came to dine, to choose is inevitable and so with all these buzzing around my ears, I just sat down next to Talaba Station, a stall named PIA'S CHICKEN HAUZ relatively serving only "free range chicken" (organic or native chickens), with their decent customer service approach - I looked onto their menu for quite some time and finally made a decision to order their flagship dish their Native Chicken Bbq.
Fun fact:
»Native Chickens are the varieties which belongs to backyard poultry farming (meaning, they were raised primarily to live and to multiply in a home base or small farm for a family which was a result of a good sustainable and healthy food source), with all these having said these chickens were free to roam around to find their own food and for this reason their meat/muscle toughens overtime.
»These chickens were also totally flavorful compared to that biochemically engineered injected fowls that were raised to become food as consumption in a day to day basis.

»Native Chickens grow mature between 45-60days while common chickens (broilers) grow much faster in a massive number of days most likely in just 30 days or sometimes much lesser.
Anyhow, let's give it a taste test. I have already tried countless native chickens in my entire life though. But still not convinced which takes the lead when it comes to flavor, because I haven't maybe tried a descent one that was cooked through using its finest flavours without the addition of any artificial flavorings and additives.
As I point down all its details, please join me as I will be uncovering its taste and further compare it to a restaurant (Tanok'z Chicken Hauz) which offers the same kind of dish (Native Chicken BBQ/Inasal) that I had tried before here in GENSAN.
Verdict: 😈🤔
»The Chicken BBQ (pecho part) is quite enough by size.
»Chicken BBQ is fragrantly fresh with a subtle intoxicating aroma.
»I tried patting the chicken using the back of my spoon onto its surface and tasted its exterior flavor and found out that it has a violent msg (monosodium glutamate) base as its deciding factor in flavor that came from marination or basting sauce and this makes me think its an odd idea to use such if you cater a good quality chicken, it tends to be spoiled by nature if used with such seasoning vigorously.
Although the chicken bbq in itself was perfectly cooked and juicy which is great and this makes me want to dig in for more.

»Here's the catch, the meat in its interior were fully seasoned perfectly! You can both savor its savoury note thus having accompanied with its mellow richness and natural umami flavor from native chicken. Deliciously decadent!
»If you love Sinamak (spiced vinegar) and chilies so much. Their homemade sinamak were delicious on it's own. Because they used coconut vinegar (tuba) as their acid base with a distinctive hint of sweetness and what makes it amazingly delicious is its garlicky flavor profile. Very stunning and aromatic, deliciously spicy (4/5), but be careful to use this dipping sauce you'll just end up ruining your entire experience and palate.
Downsides:
»Chicken Bbq is delicious but relies on msg, if you are health conscious, this is probably not for you.
»Their free juice (iced tea) is too bland, too much ice had been diluted. Be watchful and observant! Good thing you can get free water if you would only ask for it they will surely give you some.
Overall:
I would highly recommend this Native Chicken BBQ 4.5/5 over Tanok'z Chicken Inasal 2.5/5. Their Chef/Cook has the ability to retain its natural flavor while cooking it viably perfect.
I would love to come back for more, and so would you. Its a must try!
